As I am just beginning my adventure into elementary teaching, I am going to need all the help I can get! One great resource to help along this adventure are blogs. I have found 4 teaching blogs to follow. This will help me read, see and explore more right from the source... a teacher's perspective! I can't wait to tell you more!! Can you feel my excitement bouncing off the page?!!
Blog 1: Second Story Window: Primary Teaching Resources
Two sisters, Heidi and Emily, that have 17 years combined teaching experience share what worked and didn't work in their classrooms. They are both currently teaching preschool so it will add many more information on the pre-reading skills that are important too. They share information of what happens even before your students walk through the door that first day to what the first day of school looks like. They have ideas and solutions like turning the desks into groups of 4-5 so no openings are showing. This helps students from losing stuff inside their desks and they won't be distracted during class.
Blog 2: Sparkling in Second
This blog is absolutely sparkling! I love everything about this blog! The colorful pictures, the detailed information and the light and bright colors. The author is Jen, a second grade teacher. She has everything from math cubes, to math fact fluency, to flexible seating ideas. There are even some freebies! I am excited to read more about her student notebook organization. She definitely knows her stuff! I think this blog will really help me get my own creative ideas flowing. I am excited to dig deeper into this blog.
Blog 3: Amy Lemons
Amy Lemons is a teacher with resources for multiple age groups in the elementary level. Her blog is definitely for her income. I don't love the ads but understand that is how she makes a lot of her money off of this blog. Her ideas look impressive! I love the bright colors and big pictures. Bonus! It looks like she gives a lot of advice and ideas for teachers and parents too!
Blog 4: Saddle Up For 2nd Grade
I am going to add a bonus blog just for the fun of it! And also so I don't forget... Saddle Up for 2nd Grade, written by Marcy. She is a veteran teacher for 9 years and now she is an educational consultant for teachers. First, I love the blog name. She has free resources and a facebook group. Some categories are writing, grammar, reading, math, and digital resources. I am excited to see what great resources are available here!
Happy exploring!!!
